Midnight black core with a deep dark red hue. Elevated scents of blackcurrant laced with mint move through the olfactory senses trailed by some liquorice, spicy vanillin oak and earthy black olive notes. Medium to full bodied, rich blackcurrant, liquorice and choc mint flavours fill the mouth underpinned by vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Grainy tannins provide good structure and a touch of grip to the finish. Excellent depth with a long rich and wholly satisfying aftertaste.
Since 1970 the family-owned winery has been dedicated to authentic, hand-crafted winemaking and for over fifty years we have produced celebrated wines with an authentic expression of land and terroir. Our grape vines are grown and cared for by hand, on the high-elevation hillside slopes of our single-estate vineyards in Sevenhill. Sustainably managed and surrounded by the pristine natural bushland of the Spring Gully Conservation Park — Skillogalee is a truly unique and special place.
After hand picking the grapes are vinified in open fermenters before basket pressing and run off into French oak hogsheads for their second fermentatiom and aging for 24 months before bottling
