Reserve Syrah 2016, De La Terre, Hawkes Bay

Moderate colour depth with a range of berry aromas – especially blackberry with hints of blackberry flower and white pepper. A ‘pretty’ nose with the French oak in a nice balance alongside the fruit.

Some cigar-like complexities already starting to develop. A reasonably strong attack of fruit with gentle mid-palate tannins and a light seam of acidity. A long, clean finish.

Hawke’s Bay’s only earth brick winery. A small family-run business, owned and operated by Tony and Kaye Prichard, and Gracie, the Winery Dog. They produce small volumes of high quality wines with the emphasis on elegance, texture and balance. The name ‘de la terre’ literally meaning ‘of the earth’, is a reference to both the vineyard soils and the earth brick construction used for our the winery and cellar door.

Barrel aged for 18 months in French oak, approximately 40% new.
