Cremant d’Alsace NV, Bruno Sorg
Made in the Champagne method, this is complex high quality fizz. Solid acid profile from the cool nights in the hills, but packed with yellow apple and pear flavours from the bright French sun.
This is the source of some of the finest, richest and most concentrated wines in Alsace. Superb Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris and perhaps the finest Muscat in Alsace, but also home to great Riesling. The late Bruno and his son Francois realised a dream ten years ago with the final purchase of a plot of steep garrigue in the heart of the Grand Cru Pfersigberg. They now have amassed 10 hectares in one plot. Bruno had secretly been buying parcels of this land for the last 30 years.
Francois Sorg makes this excellent Crémant in his modern winery outside the village of Eguisheim. using Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris fermented separately before blending and bottling for a further fermentation in bottle in the Traditional Method. A great alternative to Champagne or Prosecco.
