Tasting Notes

A beautiful dark purple color with purplish reections, this
wine opens with a bouquet of violet, cherry, and pepper. Full-bodied and round, this wine has a beautifully frank but smooth tannic structure. The tasting ends with a long finish marked by blackberry and toasted notes.

The Producer

Le Bourdieu Vertheuil is one of the oldest wine-growing places since from the 11th century, an abbey was built, the monks deforested and planted vines there. Since then, the same vineyard has produced a single and unique cuvée, which became Cru Bourgeois in 1936.

Vinification

Plot-based vinication. Maceration of the skin for 4-5 days. Vatting for 3 to 4 weeks for alcoholic fermentation.
Flow of free-run juices in vats for malolactic fermentation. Selection of press wines divided into barrels according to 4 quality levels. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% new.
