Cairanne AOC 2020, Darriaud

This is rich, intense and drenched in dark red fruits. With morello cherry and a touch of cinnamon spice on the nose, soft dark plummy fruit, liquorice, chocolate, a hint of black tea on the palate, this wine is full flavoured and smooth with supple tannins.

Expertly put together by winemaker extraordinaire Julien Dugas, this wine shows brilliant value, spicy and smoke. You will never go back to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, after trying this!

Healthy, happy grapes are hand-harvested from very old vines built on the classic pebble-y soils (associated with neighbouring Châteauneuf). The wine is fermented using the native “wild” yeasts and is then aged in French barriques (225l) and demi-muids (600l) for a total of 18 months.
