Tasting Notes
This is a typical expression of Verdicchio wine, which is easy to drink, characterful and youthful. Straw yellow in colour with green hints, aromas are dominant with white peach, elder and hawthorn. The palate is well-structured, fresh and intense, yet soft, with the alcohol providing a solid backbone. The aftertaste is of slightly bitter almond, which is. typical of the grape variety.
The Producer
Sartarelli is one of the few Italian wineries which focuses exclusively on a single varietal production, in this case Verdicchio. The Sartarelli company, with its extension of 55 hectares of vineyards and 6 hectares of olive groves with 2 300 trees, is situated in Poggio San Marcello, a small precious gem surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of the Marche region.
Vinification
It is characterised by a small yield per vinestock and differently timed hand-picking. The time of the harvest can change depending on the course of the year and usually takes place from the beginning of November till the middle of the same month. During the grape picking time, extreme care is necessary (small crates) so as not to split the grapes which have reached the correct level of ripeness. This completes the first stage after which the normal techniques (with the exclusive use of stainless steel tanks) are adopted in the winery taking the same care so as not to ruin the preceding work.
