Produced from 100 % estate-grown fruit, this wine has a clear Mediterranean influence, with warm and calm nuances of black fruit and soft aromas and tastes of balsamic and aromatic plants.
Bodegas Artadi wines used to be sold as “Rioja”, but have now decided not to be associated with the name and produce their wines exactly how they see fit for the best quality. “Vinas de Gain” is now labelled as a “village” wine.
Artadi dates back to 1981 when its current owner, Juan Carlos López de Lacalle, together with his family and thirteen local growers founded Artadi in the heart of Alava.
Today, Artadi own 65 hectares of vineyard in their original site of Álava, in Laguardia, planted in soils with wide geological diversity. These distinctive vineyard sites give singularity to their wines, allowing the character of the fruit and the finesse of the tannins to shine.
Maximum respect for the environment; lack of pest or herbicides. Organic viticulture. Vinification in open top vats with cold maceration during 48 hours and fermentation during 12-14 days with two “pisages” a day and a small pumping over.
