Tasting Notes
It strikes the eye for its intense ruby red color with a tint of purple; its bouquet has a distinct characteristics and persistent herbaceous note. A full-bodied, generous, well structured,
nearly “aristocratic” wine. As it ages the herbaceous note attenuates and its taste becomes elegant, harmonious.
The Producer
Today the founder of Savian’s grandson, William Savian, manages what has developed into 42 hectare estate located between the Livenza and Tagliamento Rivers, where the provinces of Venice, Pordenone and Treviso meet. A forward thinking family and business, Savian have always been fully committed to the environment and for this reason, in 1993, they became one of the first certified organic producers in the region. The estate’s calcareous clay soil, rich in shallow carbonate, provides the perfect environment for low- intervention, organic, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Grigio and Lison Classico (Tocai Friulano).
Vinification
At least for wine, vintage 2020 “will be an excellent vintage” according to how went harvest:
mild temperatures, unbearable heat, adequate water supply, cool nights and the absence of
heavy hailstorms, have assured strength and health to the vines, from budding to harvest.
A good quality of the grapes and in some cases excellent, there is an interesting aromatic
picture for the white varieties and medium-high polyphenolic contents in the red berried
grapes. There are no phytosanitary problems and the quality of the grapes is good. The
sugar content is normal, as is the acidity. Fortunately, the effect of hail was limited and has
not interested our area.
