Tasting Notes
A fresh, Cabernet Franc with crunchy tannins, bursts of red fruits, dark berries and hints of pepper. It has a lovely shimmering, graphite-laced finish.
The Producer
Van Loggerenberg Wines is a family-run winery based in Paarl, making low-intervention, site-specific wines from vineyards mainly in the Stellenbosch and Swartland appellations. “For me, freshness and purity are paramount. I want to express the vineyard sites with elegance, balance and bags of flavour – Lukas van Loggerenberg, Winemaker.
Vinification
The wine is made up of two parcels, the majority from Klein Welmoed Farm (65%) which was planted in 2008 and the remaining 35% from Bluegum Grove Farm on the Vlaeberg Road planted in 2004. The grapes are picked and vinified separately and only blended before bottling. The two vineyards are planted on decomposed granite with Koffieklip in the top layer of soil
