Tasting Notes
Delightful aromas of green apple and pear with added peach and apricot and toasted almond. Round, creamy and luscious on the palate with a generous, ample mouth-feel underpinned by vibrant, lively acidity that provides both focus and direction, wrapping around a core of further white stone fruit, honey and white pepper spice.
The Producer
Domaine Alain Gras was founded in 1979, and is now one of the most well respected and sought after producers in Saint-Romain. The Domaine owns 12-hectares of vines in Saint-Romain with an average age of 40-years old and are grown on both clay and limestone soils at an altitude of 400m (some of the highest in the Côte de Beaune), producing wines that reflect the true essence of Saint-Romain: minerality, elegance and finesse! As a testament to producing the very best wines possible, Alain`s wines are served in 21 of the 26, 3 Michelin star restaurants in France… high praise indeed!
Vinification
Sustainable agriculture and harvested by hand. 20 to 30% de-stemmed before pressing. Pneumatic press, temperature controlled. Alcoholic and malo-lactic fermentations in barrel. Aged in French oak (20% new) and in tanks. Bottling after 12 months of maturing.
