Chateau de Rochemorin 2010, Andre Lurton, Pessac-Leognan

Its lovely, intense colour is a particularly vivid, brilliant red. The bouquet is intense, with slightly spicy hints and lots of fresh, red-berry fruit. The freshness of the initial impression leads into an elegant, well-balanced structure, with red-berry fruit and soft, resolved tannin. Its oaky overtones are initially discreet, but become more intense on the lovely, long aftertaste.

Located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, in the Graves, this château is quite ancient. The famous philosopher, Charles de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu, author of the famous Persian Letters, lived at Rochemorin as a child. He later became the ambassador of Rochemorin red wines. 

In 1973, André Lurton acquired Rochemorin and decided to restore its prestige. He planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sémillon vines on some 100 hectares of soil eminently suited to winegrowing. The vineyard was entirely reconstituted and now produces very attractive and balanced red and white wines enjoying as fine a reputation as in days past.

This is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot.
