Quincy was the first appellation created for white wines in France back in 1936 but is still quite unknown in comparison with more illustrious (and considerably larger) regions nearby like Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume. The wines bear comparison with Sancerre, with the same white flower, citrus and green apple notes and an underlying vibrant, mineral freshness but a touch rounder and fuller. Yves Lestourgie was a cereal farmer before starting to make wine and his is now one of the best domaines in the region with 11.5 hectares of vines on the sandy (with some clay) soils which promote early ripening. A very pretty wine and superb value.
