Viña Ardanza Rioja Reserva 2015

Garnet red, medium-high depth, with an elegant palette. The nose stands out for its power, a highly complex blend of spicy and balsamic aromas of sweet liquorice, patisserie, vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa, coffee and nutmeg. Outstanding balance, pleasant freshness and great structure in the mouth, with supple, round tannins. Very pleasant mouthfeel. An ample aftertaste of spicy notes, sweet liquorice and ripe fruit makes Viña Ardanza 2015 a timelss with, with tremendous aging potential and one of the best vintages of the decade.

904 Rioja Gran Reserva 2011

Intense, deep cherry-red with a garnet-red rim. To the nose, the first impression in intense and complex, dominated by fruit (blackberry, raspberries and orange zest) that gradually reveals underlying spicy balsamic notes of cigar box, cedar liquorice, cloves, chocolate and toasted wood. Elegantly refined entry. Fresh and lively in the mouth, nicely balanced with polished, silky tannins and a gentle, delicate finish. Very long aftertaste , with citrus and balsamic notes that provide long, complex final sensations.

Viña Arana Rioja Gran Reserva 2014

Lively, clean, medium depth, garnet-red with an incipient pink rim. Intense aromas with outstanding notes of redcurrants, raspberries, wild blackberries and ripe red plums creating a complex bouquet together with the balsamic notes from the barrel: vanilla, cloves, coffee, caramel and brioche. Very tasty in the mouth, evincing the brand’s distinctive classic texture. Fresh, vibrant and well-balanced , with amiable sweet tannins. its long stay in the bottle rewards us with that great complexity and elegance typically of this style of Rioja wines. To enjoy now, but with a long life ahead.

La Rioja Alta continues to be one of the benchmarks for traditionally produced Rioja wine. Established in 1890 at the same spot where their head office sits today, their three Reserva Wine brands, Alberdi, Arana and Ardanza are named after the founding families, all three of which remain shareholders. The company still maintains traditional Rioja winemaking practices whilst embracing many of the new technological advances.

The grapes were collected in boxes and transported to the winery in refridgerated vehicles to preserve all their integrity. After destemming and light crushing. The grapes were put in tanks where they underwent alcoholic fermentation for 17 days. Batches were selected and allocated to complete malolactic fermentation naturally over 75 days. in June 2012, the wine was transferred to four and a half year old American oak barrels ,where it stayed until March 2015. During againg, the wine was racked eight times using traditional barrel-to-barrel methods.
