Tasting Notes

Rich, ripe and luscious red berry and plum fruit on the nose. The palate is soft with raspberry, blackberry, plum, fig, pepper and vanilla linger on the palate, warming.

The Producer

Château Roudier was divided into two parts in the 19th century: one belonged to the Vacher family and the other part belonged to the Berthon family.

On the death of Jean Vacher, mayor of the commune of Montage from 1887 to 1925, Ernest Berthon bought the other part in order to unify Château Roudier. Invested in the commune of Montagne, Ernest Berthon was mayor from 1925 to 1929.

Following him, Roger CAPDEMOURLIN, his son-in-law, operated the property for around thirty years. An expert surveyor by trade, he took over from his father-in-law and became involved in property.

Vinification

Chateau Roudier is a 30 hector property situated in the hills of Montagne. 35 year old vines, 65% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in one third new oak. This 3.7-hectare property is situated on the plateau of Saint-Emilion, its biggest parcel adjoins La Fleur Petrus and is 100m from the actual Petrus vineyard. Since 2015 Roudier’s vineyards have been in conversion towards organic viticulture with vine average age over 50 years old.
