We are huge fans of this award-winning English producer. Artelium is an artisanal wine producer based in the Sussex countryside, where they create fantastic traditional method sparkling wines and electric still wines.
Started by the husband and wife duo Julie Bretland and Mark Collins in 2021, the pair wanted to create a place where they could bring their passion for wine and art together. The name Artelium is symbolic of this: “Arte” comes from the ‘Atelier’ as an interpretation of an artist’s studio or workshop, and “-Ium” is inspired by places like ‘atrium’ and ‘emporium’ to imply a place where an activity is carried out.
We recently visited their knowledgeable team at the Sussex vineyard, and we were once again inspired by their infectious passion and their creativity to try new things and continue to develop in their winemaking.
Artelium strives to produce high-quality wines that represent the season and the land, only producing their Blanc de Blanc and Blanc de Noir cuvées in selective years. Their still wines also reflect the season, with subtle differences in each vintage. Their latest 2023 vintage still wines are exciting and vibrant, with a bright freshness and packed with fruit flavours. We’ll adding more from the range soon.
It was great to also learn more about their support of the local art community. Truly living their vision of wine and art coming together, art installations and sculptures are nestled amongst the vines. It’s a beautiful place and one we can’t wait to visit again.
